To start to know the game, you can do it with the style of jungle training. This mode serves the player to learn the controls and what is the function of each of the three characters available. It is quite simplified training, but the basic shots and movements can be learned. You should take advantage of this training and learn well so you don’t have to worry about this later. The game has sessions of different missions according to the path you choose since you can level up by playing with each character. Then you will know the mission names and you will look for detailed information about how to perform it on other pages. Each of the sessions has its own unique style and are quite entertaining.
«Hour of Victory» (HoV) is an action game based during the Second World War where the player can choose and play with any of the three available characters: a sniper, a soldier, and an espionage agent. The story takes place during the armed conflict of this war, and you will have to settle different missions. The game had a good reception considering that it was not developed by a large company, and that they had a small budget, but in general, it has excellent graphics, the gameplay is quite entertaining, and it has a history that makes the player feel submerged in the actions of his character. If you are new to the game and want to learn a bit about its mechanics or want to know the most important points to advance in the campaign without getting lost or demanded, then you are in the right place.
1.1. Overview of the Game
A vicarious indulgence of the life of Vic DeMonte can be experienced in the Hour of Victory game. This Vic, without a trace, can blend into the shadows of the enemy lands and pull off the seemingly unattainable and dangerous goals. Bullets for the American soldier Bull, the special weapon: Fists of Fury, are just a distant lack of knowledge. Anyone who wants to rush into the thick of the fighting, keeping an arm-to-arm combat is only for explosives, portable medication, and heavy weapons or fragmented grenades, which are not open. His high stature and he has the ability to move and the nerve-damaging screams that confuse enemies. Ross is an intense and cold-headed sniper.
The cities are dusty, and the deserted dumps, oil drums, and buildings are also detailed. Most of the texture resolutions appear to be good. The complete light from day to night is acted throughout the game. There are many effects in the game – fire, smoke, rain, and lens flare, to name a few of them. For real and emotion-filled action games, the major inducement to make a choice on Hour of Victory is the characters themselves. Each of these characters has unique abilities to overcome the enemy. The exquisite skill of Vic DeMonte, Ross’ special weapon: The Disguise, allows them to make assignments freely to the enemy.
Hour of Victory is a World War II action game in which you can play your way – Jackson sneaks, Bull destroys, and Ross overcomes. You can master each character’s unique skills and advance through the complex and changing battlefields. Hour of Victory allows you to travel across four different environments – North Africa, Burma, the Western Front, and Russia. The bosses range from Nazis to Axis patrols and seem versatile. There are numerous types of enemies and different levels of challenges in the game. In each environment, there are differing shrubs, sand, ice, and wooden boardwalk textures.
1.2. Brief History and Reception
Reception has not seen much sympathy for our hero. He was called a baby, told that the idea is not bad, but it’s time for the company to finish it. The Windows version also did not find support and was quickly released, which, of course, did not help much. Many complaints were made to the game, from weak artificial intelligence (the opponents and allies take an active stance and usually do not show fervor), lack of realism (the enemies fall under the fire of the player and themselves simulate the bullet trajectory to reach the desired result), interpolation of models, and worse visuals. However, the game does not raise the issue of graphics to the proper level and does not please the player’s eye.
Being a first-generation Xbox 360 fan of World War II, I need to show the world that it’s not necessary to PC. Hour of Victory has attracted the attention of many fans who are eager to start their virtual journey and save mankind in the best traditions of ’90s shooters. However, the studio has been little known until now. And even if you look at the previous developments of this studio, then this picture is usually limited to the games related to the 3D Realms company: it is 3D scrolling action kings.
2. Getting Started
When you click on the campaign, you’ll be shown the introduction movie. This will help you understand the main PC role, as well as the manner of their movement. The mouse is used to rotate the camera. Camera work will help you get a hint of the maps, while the MiniMap will allow you to find the direction. The basic action buttons are listed on the play-in interface. They include moving, looking around, zoom, gaming, and shooting. A short briefing is provided right at the beginning. It informs you that the game aims to get you started. The heroes will have to examine each player’s abilities. This also involves both the useful features and options. You will go through three portfolios in the single-player mode which will pave the DOS Valley some difficulties. All the same, take care to request assistance.
When you launch the game, the main menu lets you choose between Campaign, Multiplayer, Xbox Live, and Extras. You can access helpful information from the top right corner of the screen. Many terms and concepts in the game are difficult to understand. Players should remember that the game field is active. You will have to complete different tasks. If you are not familiar with these details, you may miss something. You can discern a scope of additional opportunities easily. Follow the objectives, move from one point to another, and explore the territory. There is a variety of gameplay styles. This will enrich the adventure.

2.2. Creating Your Player Profile
In addition to the three adaptability settings, you have access to four camouflage settings: Woodland, Desert, Light, and Dark. Hide in the environment best suited to your current mission conditions.
Adaptability: Use the Left and Right Bumper buttons to navigate between the Quick, Balanced, and Cluster settings. Choose «Quick» if you are a beginner or a close-range assault specialist. This setting provides constant camouflage and the biggest radar screen. Choose «Balanced» for the most versatile performance. This option provides minimal camouflage and a radar screen of average size. Choose «Cluster» for veterans and long-range marksmen. Expect maximum vulnerability with the smallest radar screen.
Appearance: Select a player model and headgear that best suits your nationality or playing style. Different player models have unique weapon allocations and telltale silhouettes, so choose wisely.
Name: Enter your name or cyberspace moniker. Your name will appear in the player list at the start of each game. Note that you can edit this moniker after the game is launched.
Player profile options can be modified at any time via the Xbox LIVE Guide or Main Menu. Simply select «Multiplayer», «Xbox LIVE», and «Player Profile». Although you may only track one profile at a time, you may modify the same profile from any Xbox 360 console.
You must create a player profile before you can play the game. A player profile contains unique settings that will be associated with your multiplayer performance. If you have never before played a Co-Op game, the game will guide you through the creation of a player profile.
3. Gameplay Basics
Most of the mechanics underlying the successful study of the peculiarities of the game and the game tasks is to work with the switch modes – FPS (first-person shooter) and TPS (third-person shooter), as well as defective, user-type Schema visibility to BOTS besides regime Fighter.
Perhaps the main feature of play in this game is the transitions of action principles, in particular the shooter and sniper modes, as well as selective or forced mode restrictions. During the single missions, the possibility of close combat can be limited or denied by the conditions of the task itself or performed by an individual character without using main squad members. This is done under the control button «Vocabulary,» which means calling Bots-virtuous abetermining for the character-puppet behavior of the specified model visibility, safety, danger, and so on. This can be translated into fully automatic operation.
3.1. Controls and Interface
Of course, three types of screen errors can use in-game buttons. The first is button labels. Whenever your character is ready to interact with an item in the game world, such as picking up a different type of weapon or opening a crate, the action you need to take will be listed on the right hand of the screen. Just follow the on-screen text to perform the requested action. Next are screenshots. These help to understand gameplay mechanics. And then there is the information box. With clear information and support of different colored markers, it lists both the features and problems of the area your character is fighting in.
In-game Help Texts Show the most Important Controls.
In games like Hour of Victory, you could actually call the interface «Control 101.» That’s because the whole game, besides the movement controls on the thumbsticks and triggers, is based on using a lot of other buttons to make the world of your character come alive. You have to use the controls to switch weapons, pick up items, push buttons, manually hide in the closest cover or throw items. The interface is simple, functional, and very accessible.
Hour of Victory’s controls may not be standard, as far as FPS titles go, but neither are they particularly difficult to learn or use. The default controls were arranged with the Xbox 360 controller and users in mind, but a quick look in the options menu will reveal that you can change the controls any way you like. The information below is written with the Xbox 360 control layout in mind. Should you be using a different gamepad or the keyboard and mouse, simply take a look in the instruction manual and the options menu.
3.1. Controls and Interface
3.2. Single Player Campaign vs. Multiplayer Mode
However, the limitation of multiplayer is that after the server is shut down, you will not receive any notices about it. It is difficult to find a permanent alliance in multiplayer. In order to prevent this problem, the single-player campaign is very much necessary. Single-player also allows for what happens at the very beginning of the game, before any multiplayer servers are available. Single-player mode is needed for training and for teaching fighting skills.
For a game like Hour of Victory, while both single-player and multiplayer modes are essential and must-have for any shooter game, it is all too clear that the game is more geared towards the multiplayer rather than the single-player. With multiplayer, players get to meet and interact with their allies and enemies through better competition and training, learn and improve their strategies and tactics, travel and fight with their friends. Making an alliance in multiplayer could lead to friendships lasting a lifetime.
4. Character Classes and Abilities
When you start the game, you can choose a character class. There are three character classes: the ranger, the heavy weapons trooper, and the covert operative. The ranger is used for stealth, the heavy weapons trooper is used for assault, and the covert operative has a good balance of offense and stealth. In the game, you must frequently switch between characters in order to complete objectives. Each character has their own special abilities. The ranger can turn invisible and snipe one player, the heavy weapons trooper can carry large and powerful weapons but fire his pistol or hold the enemies off while the other players escape. Finally, the covert operative can crawl under barbed wire and set satchel charges. The good thing about portable covers is that they can provide extra power-ups in certain locations in the levels.
4.1. Soldier Class
Infantry Charge – Running speed is increased by 15%. Adrenaline Boost – Running duration is increased by 15%. Frag Grenade Crate – Gain 2 more grenades, hold 5 at one time. First Aid Kit Crate – Gain 2 (1) First Aid Kits at the start, hold 7, a max of 8.
Soldier is the only class that can use machine guns without using ammunition. The soldier is probably the best way to start off because it gives you the advantage of wasting slightly fewer skill points on ammunition for rifles and submachine guns, and helps you get around the map faster due to the «Infantry Charge» bonus. Also, maps with vehicles will benefit the most from a soldier’s explosive bonuses. With those extra bonuses, you’d be powerful enough to eliminate the enemy more effectively and protect your vehicles longer, all the while gathering more points with kills and recon. Therefore, a soldier is great for the traditional flag-based game types such as «Flag Rally,» «Capture The Flag,» and «Destroy and Construct.» You get to your target faster as long as you know where you’re going, especially with the added «Adrenaline Boost 2» bonus. First aid bonuses and grenades are always handy for crowd control and support as well, detonating planted explosives by pressing «up» on the controller, and carrying 2 extra explosive pieces of equipment before reaching the limit of most other classes.
4.2. Sniper Class
The German sniper wins my vote for being the two best snipers in the game. He is fast and quick with his sniper. Once you have mastered how to use the sniper, he also has twice the accuracy and damage than the allied sniper has. On the other hand, the allied sniper is much faster than the German sniper. This character is one of a kind in a different realm and makes ambushes, outflanking, and attacking the enemy from a safe long-range distance, all magnificent feats to perform in this game.
The sniper is the deadliest unit in the game and has the best long-range attack in H.o.V. The sniper is also the fastest unit in the game. It has the following two abilities: Fire Weapon and Plant Satchel Charge. The sniper’s tactic of fire is to eliminate the enemy from a safe position, but he is rather efficient up close as well. However, the sniper has low health points. Choosing to travel with the sniper will usually have you assisted by an engineer, who will be building sandbags. Try to find a good hiding spot to snipe the enemy from. If a bazooka soldier comes at you, just use the SMGs as a secondary weapon. After eliminating a few soldiers from a safe distance, you can simply start placing satchel bombs on the tanks if your team is coming to the flag. If done correctly, you will die blowing the tank up and take down 3 or 4 enemy soldiers, and make the tank all yours. The snipers are weak, yet have the skills to be the end of the game of H. of V.
4.3. Guerilla Class
Armed with either a shotgun (very close range) or an automatic rifle, if you are spotted, immediately turn invisible and carry on with what you were doing. Never engage in a straight up fight unless the guard is alone. Also, one shot is enough to knock them out if you can aim for the head, so make sure you are doing that and can stay out of trouble. Keep running away, and always think of an escape route before attacking someone. Don’t try this elite character first, you’ll waste a good card if you die too quickly. Try the Heavy Soldier first, and get used to the whole idea of the game, and gain some experience.
The Guerrilla Class is the most fragile of the three. They can run quicker than soldiers and become invisible at will (if not in sight of enemies). They are masters at sneaking around the battlefield and either coming up from behind or just sneaking past an enemy altogether. Little more than a walking corpse, the Guerrilla Class can be sliced to ribbons by its enemy if caught. Their main purpose is to sabotage tanks and vehicles in general. Sometimes more than one hit will be needed, but it at least stops the enemy from advancing on the main base, allowing others to concentrate on cleaning the area.
5. Weapons and Equipment
Remember, success in battle depends on using the right weapon for the right situation.
Each type of weapon is specifically designed for a particular type of combat. For example, if you are facing an air troop armed with machine guns that have a high rate of fire, don’t expect to take them down with a tank. Similarly, be cautious when using a machine gun, as it has a lower rate of fire. Take your time to find cover and plan your next move. Informational rifles are machine guns that are designed for high rate of fire but have lower penetration and weaker impact.
In order to achieve 100% success in the hour of victory free download, you must pay close attention to your equipment. Boot your weapons properly when you encounter them in the heat of battle. Each weapon is designed for a specific type of combat. You have access to two types of weapons: Arms and SV-Arms, which have different capabilities. Avoid wasting ammunition by firing indiscriminately; instead, aim for well-aimed shots.
5.1. Assault Rifles
When you start the game, you’d better select the M1 Carbine. It’s the most widespread rifle in World War Two, and gives you much better chances of protecting yourself. It has a good fire rate, high accuracy, and a small clip. However, you’ll have enough bullets to kill several enemies before the need to reload. You can count on it in long battles where you can’t even think about hiding behind some cover. The best way to use your carbine is taking advantage of your sighting. Shoot from far to avoid fire and to control the situation.
The assault rifle is a powerful weapon in Hour of Victory, with very good accuracy and high firepower. You should use a rifle when you play as Ross, the British commando, who specializes in this type of weapon. Remember that an assault rifle won’t help you survive in close combat if the enemy is equipped with a submachine gun. That’s why you shouldn’t use it in small rooms. Submachine guns are the deadliest weapons for close combat, and players with these weapons are very dangerous.
5.2. Sniper Rifles
Snipers in Hour of Victory should not stay in one place for long, as enemies will detect your presence after multiple kills. If you remain in a position, enemies can easily find you. You should be shooting enemies who are not focused on you before moving to another place. This is the best way to use a sniper. The first edition of the sniper rifle will be problematic for you, as the rifle has few rounds, and if you do not hit the enemy in the head or chest after 2 or 3 seconds, the enemy will find you. After you have experience, you can respawn as a sniper to kill the same enemy multiple times because after he returns to the game, he will not come in your direction. Good luck!
The sniper rifles in the game are the Gewehr 43 and the M1 Garand. This is because these rifles are precise, with longer range and can shoot at a high velocity. It is difficult to hit a target with a rifle because the shot travels after long seconds, and thus you must take into account the movement of the target and the environment. To facilitate aiming, you can use the target identification skill, which highlights enemies and displays their names. Although you will not gain much experience on maps in the campaign, you can still play the game with sniper rifles. For example, the sniper rifle is well-suited for the map Electric Avenue for its open spaces and range, although there is a lot of fog.
5.3. Explosives
Fifthly, there are mines in the game. Select their type and place them on the ground as landmines. Keep in mind that the mines are harder to notice.
The fourth type is a bazooka. It is an anti-tank weapon, but it can also be used against infantry. Keep in mind that shooting a bazooka at a short range will be fatal to you. If necessary, try to hit the tank’s back or wheels.
The third type is a landmine. Place it on the ground and activate it. This is a useful weapon for online games, when a pack of enemies is following you.
The second type of explosives is TNT. Pick it up, attach, and activate a plunger by pressing the corresponding button, and move away. Be careful: the fuse is not long, and one touch of a bullet will be enough to explode TNT.
There are a few types of explosives in the game. The first type is a grenade. Grenades can be thrown in any position: standing, crouching, and laying down. If an enemy throws a grenade at you, you can throw it back. But remember, when the grenade is in the air, you have only five seconds to run to a safe place. If the grenade is near you, you will hear its clicking. It is a sign that you should run or jump right then.
6. Maps and Strategies
The Stronghold: This is one more map that requires a delicate balance between attacking the enemies and keeping yourself hidden. Assist yourself with vehicles and the medical those to win matches on this map.
The Rocket Facility: There is always a cloud of dust, so avoid being seen. The very closed and multi-flooding areas make this one of the hardest maps to control. Use modules to fight against other enemies.
The Munition Train: There are two huge exposed areas in the middle of the map. After the towers, you have another two exposed areas. Do not stop over them: pass quickly and carefully. Finally, you will reach the village.
The Crossroad: In Capture the Flag, this map is very small and you will need to dedicate yourself to your objective only. Be fast and keep the defense of your base up to date. In other game modes, just be faster than ever and avoid keeping a fixed spot or area. You should always keep moving and hitting the enemies before they see you. If you find somebody already shooting at you, run to avoid the damage.
Vierville: This is a simple map with a limited close area and possibilities of attack from a distance. Use the center stairs and the cover in shacks to get the best view and kill settings to enemies. In DMS, try to use the towers and the center stair for the best position against your enemies.
6.1. Overview of Maps
In the guide, an overview of every part of the game is given. I also display general strategies that are useful in a few situations. The main text is written in italics, while additional info from the game is between brackets. In this guide, the background of the game is also given, along with the specifications of every vehicle, weapon, and character. Maps are shown with mines, checkpoints, falling bombs, and the possible strategy of the criminals. Each map has one or more strategies, depending on the criminal’s way of obtaining victory. Maps are formed in alphabetical order, difficult order, and then an order in which the player meets them while playing. After the maps, I list the objectives for every mission in the game in the same order. After the missions section, in the same order, the possible trouble and bonus objectives are described. Then, a short overview of the multiplayer features is given. At the end of the guide, there are some useful hints. I hope you will enjoy the game with this guide.
6.2. Key Strategies for Different Game Modes
Capture the Flag with Vehicles – Currently, this is the only game mode with vehicles in it, so it definitely offers something different. The only objective in this level requires you to infiltrate the enemy’s headquarters and secure the flag. You will then need to return the flag to your own base and capture the flag in order to win. Note that there is a greater incentive to working together with your squad in this mode because you cannot leave the protection of the vehicle until the flag or the bomb is carried to the vehicle. Use good map coverage and make sure to set mines to mark likely enemy entry points or bombs. With coordinates placed in strategic positions, you will be able to easily hunt down roaming enemies or quickly establish priorities.
Objective 3 – Ladies room – Kitchen. Your team needs to first capture the ladies room, then construct a bridge from the ladies room to the kitchen. An allied AI vehicle guard will then appear, and a safe passage is guaranteed to the garage, thus ensuring the successful infiltration for the bomb.
Objective 2 – Office. Once you capture the office building, you should proceed to the garage in order to release the truck that will destroy the enemy garage door.
Objective 1 – Barracks – Garage. Your team must capture the barricade (or defense) and the factory that will produce a truck you can drive to destroy the enemy’s garage door.
Capture the Flag – From a strategic point of view, this game mode has the most in common with Assault, in that each team is attacking objectives. There are 3 key objectives in the game, one of which is offensive, and the other 2 serve primarily a defensive purpose. Note that the same strategies as for Assault apply here, but simply focus on capturing instead of destroying.
7. Community and Online Resources

7.1. Official Forums and Websites
The second U.S. website has a lot of information about the game’s story and scenes, with links to download materials both in video and in images, plus the game’s system specifications. The second one also provides a general description of the game, as well as details of the basic game engine – Unreal Engine 3, comments on the artificial intelligence of the game’s opponents and on how the environments where battles take place were recreated in a very believable way. Finally, another section, about the history of the game’s era, the amphitheater where one of the battles of the game actually occurred, and the game missions with combat and vibrant cinema scenes. Overall, this U.S. website is very complete about the information about the Hour of Victory.
There are at least three websites with information about Hour of Victory, including the recommended system requirements (in general, not very demanding). In fact, the game has a moderately high level of graphics, rather than cutting-edge demands. The first one features articles and news about the game’s progress in the creation and development process, plus links to informative threads on both the official forum and another with additional information about the game.
7.2. Social Media Communities
You will see what your audience thinks about your project at first glance. It also helps in a way to collect information or features on players’ wishlists. Keeping your community informed of your game development can be an important factor in the amount of sales you will make on the day of the release. If you start to share your game early enough, you will gain a loyal audience that will support you throughout your entire journey. With the rise of Twitch, Mixer and YouTube, gaming has taken on a much more interactive structure. These digital gamers use platforms not only to have fun, but also to learn about games, discuss news in the digital games industry, test games in advance and interact with their favorite games. Being a part of this relationship can also be a huge advantage during early marketing and feedback projects.
I know, I’ve been talking about it a lot. But social media communities are really important. And the reason is not just because they don’t need monitoring to be maintained. The main reason is that social media communities are a primary source for feedback.
8. Troubleshooting and FAQs
Q: Are there any problems with installing the game on my system? A: As with most Windows installations, some problems might crop up. Some players have had problems installing the game to the G: drive and it’s generally a good idea to close all other programs and utilities in your computer so that you don’t experience a crash during the installation. Then, to ensure that the computer runs as you want it to, always try rebooting your computer after installing the game. If the game will not install properly, check out the Activision Technical Support Page.
Q: The game requires a different disk than what I inserted! What’s wrong with this game? A: This is not a problem with the game. It’s a problem with Windows and the way it deals with auto-run. Open My Computer and click on the disk you inserted. Locate the setup.exe file and run it. Then the installation will function as normal.
When players first receive their copy of the game, the odds are that they are eager to put it in and get playing. Unfortunately, the installation process can be a bit of a hassle. Below is the solution to a common problem that occurs during installation: inserting the wrong disk.
8.1. Common Issues and Solutions
Problem: The cut-scenes or movies don’t play properly. Solution: Update the dual-layer reader software.
Problem: No voice comes out from the speakers during the game. Solution: Set the sound quality to Medium or Low.
Problem: The frame rate would become quite low, or the game wouldn’t boot. Solution: 1. Change the resolution to the monitor’s native resolution. 2. Change the game details settings to «Performance» or «Custom.»
Problem: The game crashes, there’s an error, or the monitor goes blank. Solution: 1. Get the latest Windows update. (Make sure to confirm the important Windows updates to be installed.) 2. Get the most recent graphics card driver update.
If problems come up in the course of playing Hour of Victory, the first thing to do is to get the latest updates for both the game and Windows. If problems still occur, check here for possible solutions.
8.2. Frequently Asked Questions
There’s a bug in the game that is triggered if your squadmates aren’t all together at the time when you select the command from the Command Circle. Movements have to be properly timed, otherwise, your commands won’t work. For example, let’s say you’re in a fast-paced campaign and you’re at the back of an ally who’s stopped. If your command is spotted and you’re left behind, your squadmates’ intelligence will kick in and begin acting on their own, ignoring you completely.
My squadmates aren’t responding to my commands. What should I do?
Characters are unlocked on the Multiplayer menu screen. When you switch on your Xbox 360 and select Hour of Victory from the game menu on the Dashboard, you usually jump straight to the Multiplayer screen. If you want to access special features, like selecting different skins and clothing for your characters, simply head back to the menu and select the Movie Player section. This allows you to watch all the cut scenes and unlock new skins and options. Keep in mind as well that during the tutorial chapters, some skins may not appear until you start unlocking them.
I finished both campaigns and I still can’t select certain characters for Multiplayer mode.
Don’t worry, the game doesn’t expect you to be fluent in German, or any other language for that matter. Red Germans are typical snobs and tend to give orders in German to non-Red German members. Nowadays, there’s a Don’t Ask feature, coupled with an Arrow that indicates where to go on the map. This feature more or less replaces the German language, since all you have to do is look for the arrow and head toward it.
I ran into a German-fluent Red beret wearing German and I can’t understand his commands… What should I do?
